Thumbavilai Amman Kovil Eraniel - Virtual 360 View

A Virtual 360 View of Thumbavilai Amman Kovil Eraniel which is situated in Kottayam. This Amman statue is different among the other Gods statue in Eraniel. In Karthigai (Tamil) month the daily special pooja known as Karthigai Sirapu (Special) will be held. On other days the temple will open by 6am in morning and evening by 6 pm. Daily poojas will be done on every day.

This is temple belongs to old architecture with roof tiles.

Shivaratri or Maha Shivaratri is an annual festival celebrated in honor of Lord Shiva. There is a Shivaratri in every luni-solar month of the Hindu calendar, on the month's 13th night/14th day, but once a year in late winter and before the arrival of Summer marks Maha Shivaratri which means "the Great Night of Shiva".

It is a major festival in Indian Hinduism, and this festival is solemn and marks a remembrance of "overcoming darkness and ignorance" in life and the world. It is observed by remembering Shiva and chanting prayers, fasting, and meditating on ethics and virtues such as self-restraint, honesty, non-injury to others, forgiveness, and the discovery of Shiva.The ardent devotees keep awake all night. Others visit one of the Shiva temples or go on pilgrimage to Jyotirlingams. This is an ancient Hindu festival whose origin date is unknown.

Here are some few photos taken at Marthandeswarar Mahadewar Temple Eraniel during the Sivarathri Festival. It has been a 10 day festival and on the last day the Sivarathri Fuction will be help with special pooja in Temple. On this day Lord Shiva statue is carried out with elephant around Eraniel and return back to Temple.

Shivalaya Ottam

In Kanyakumari, people celebrate it by Shivalaya Ottam. Shivalayam means Shiva Temple and Ottam means Running. On this day people traveled to Twelve Shivan Temples here by walk and it covers around 120km. Nowadays some people to travel by vehicles.

குமரி மாவட்டத்தில் பிரசித்திபெற்ற சிவஸ்தலன்களில் ஒன்றாக திகழ்கிறது அருள்மிகு மார்த்தாண்டேஸ்வரம் மகாதேவர் திருக்கோவில். இத்திருக்கோயில் மார்தாண்டவர்மா மஹாராஜாவால் கட்டபட்டு சுமார் 800 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு மேலாக உள்ளது என தேவிபிரசனத்தில் தெரிவிக்கபட்டது.

கோவில் மூலவர் கோபுர சிலைகள் சிதலமடைந்து உள்ளதால் கும்பாபிஷேகம் நடத்தவும், உபதேவைகளான விநாயகர், நாகராஜா, வன சாஸ்தா கோவில்களையும் புனரமைகவும் தேவ பிரசனத்தில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டு, இந்து அறநிலையத்துறையின் அனுமதி பெற்று திருப்பணிகள் நடைபெற்று வருகிறது. மேலும் சிலபணிகள் செய்யவேண்டியும் உள்ளது. இந்நிலையில் குமரிமாவட்ட அறநிலையத்துறை தந்திரி அவர்கள் 2017 ம் வருடம் ஜூன் மாதம் 25ம் நாள் (1193 ஆணி 11) ஞாயிற்றுகிழமை புனர்பூசம் நட்சத்திரத்தில் அஷ்டப்பந்தன மகாகும்பாபிஷேகம் நடத்த சார்த்து தந்துள்ளார்கள்.

அரநிலயதுறையின் அனுமதி பெற்றும் பக்தர்கள் ஆதரவோடும் மேற்படி வைபவத்தை நடத்த தீர்மானித்துள்ளோம். ஆகவே குறிப்பிட்ட கால அளவு குறைவாக உள்ளதால் செய்ய வேண்டிய வேலைகளை விரைந்து முடிக்க வேண்டிய கட்டாயத்தில் உள்ளோம். எனவே பக்தர்கள் அனைவரும் முழு ஒத்த்துழைப்பும் பொருள் உதவியும் தந்து இவ்விழாவினை சிறப்பித்து இறையருள் பெற அன்புடன் வேண்டுகிறோம்.

Eraniel Marthandeswarar temple is a old temple built by king ruled the venad and its a famous temple around this area. Every year the people of Mahadewar trust organize the Shivaratri function. on that day the temple will decorated with lights and have special pooja. Also there may be various stage shows and devotional musical party to entertain peoples.

Maha Shivaratri is a festival dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Shivaratri is celebrated on the 6th night of the dark Phalgun (Feb or March) every year.On the auspicious day, devotees observe fast and keep vigil all night. Mahashivaratri marks the night when Lord Shiva performed the ′Tandava′. Maha Shivaratri festival is also widely known as 'Shivaratri'. It means the 'Great Night of Shiva'. This auspicious day is believed to be the day of convergence of divine powers of Lord Shiva and Goddess Shakti. It is believed that on this day the planetary position in universe evokes the spiritual energies very easily. Religious penances are carried out to gain boons through the practice of medication and yoga. People worships lord Shiva whole day and chants "Om Namah Shiva".
