Kumaracoil Subramania Swamy Temple Kavadi Kettu Festival

Kumaracoil or Velimalai is a village situated in Kanyakumari district, Tamilnadu, INDIA. The name of the place comes from the temple in Kumaracoil (Kumarakovil). Here Lord Muruga and Valli are the main Gods in this temple. The temple was buit at the top of the hill named Velimalai above 200 ft height.

Devotees comes to temple from Kanyakumari District as well as from different places and different states such as KERALA..

The KAVADI KETTU function is one of the famous fuction which held here in last of December. People from various place tooks Kavadi to Kumaracoil Murugan Temple. Especially this was also taken by Police people from Thuckalay and also called as POLICE KAVADI.

Pathrakaali Aman temple, ERANIEL

Sree Pathrakali Amman temple is a famous temple in Pattariar Street, Eraniel. This temple belongs to the people in pattariar street and its famous for the religious tradition.

Now here they celebrate Karthikai, by daily special pooja's and welcome Lord Murugan's festival Karthiyal, which people used to light the temple as well as homes by Karthigai Deepam.and here they also celebrate Eraniel's festival Kavadi Kattu ( Kavadi Bhavani) which will falls on February month.

On that day they decorate the KAVADI with flowers. Before that day there will be three days of pooja, with the Kavadi Murugan ( The person taking that Kavadi) and Kavadi Pandaaram ( who do this pooja). This was a special occasion with lights and Music. In that Kavadi there will be two pots named as Kalasam. This Kalasam was filled with Coconut Oil, which was special made by Checks ( old way of preparing oil from coconut ) from our beloved people in Checkala Street.

The Kavadi will go through the entire homes surrounded in Eraniel, to give pooja to Kavadi. The people will give pooja plates and give Panneer for Abishekagm. Once this was completed the Kavvadi will return to Pathrakalli Aman temple. There they will give Annathaanam and complete the fest.

After that by evening the Kavadi will travel through the road with so many peoples , along with the other Kavadi's from various places around Eraniel to Thiruchendur. 3 days after reaching Thiruchendur there they will give Abisheakam to Lord Murugan with the oil in the Kavadi Kalasam. Once this was completed they returned to Eraniel.

This temple is also famous for other celebration such as Saraswathi pooja , Pongal and all hindu festivals..

People at Eraniel looking for various changes. But for past 10 years there's nothing improved in the town. Now the Eraniel Town Panchayat has been placed a Tower Light at the Junction. This is not enough for the improvement of the town..Looking forward for a change.
